Ministry Village Early Learning Center Gets Ready for a New School Year

In Ministry Village Early Learning Center

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry Village Early Learning Center has remained open for their families. They implemented stringent health + safety guidelines for children and teachers, adjusted class sizes, and continued their daily focus on providing a healthy, safe, educational and fun school environment.

As they return to more normal operations in the Fall, Ministry Village ELC families can continue to feel confident knowing their child’s care and safety remains a top priority every single day. Teachers and preschool directors are preparing now for a safe return to school in August. Because the ELC is open year-round, the facility has remained open throughout the summer to its families who are enrolled in year-round childcare.

Licensed by both the Department of Children and Families and the Association of Christian Schools International, and an approved provider for Florida’s free Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) through the Escambia County Early Learning Coalition, the Ministry Village ELC provides Christ-centered, high quality, early learning childcare programs for children from 3 months of age to pre-kindergarten. It is the ELC’s goal to nurture each child and help them develop as a whole person – emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically. They do this by cultivating a healthy relationship between each child and his teacher, as the teachers work closely with parents and families to provide the comfort and stability needed to reassure a child that he is safe and loved. Parents can see pictures in their child’s private Facebook group class page to follow the precious moments of smiles, naps and early steps. Teachers actively engage with their children, providing stimulating, interesting and educational activities to encourage development of fine motor skills and gross motor skills.

The Ministry Village ELC is an approved provider for the free Florida VPK program. To be eligible for free Florida VPK, a child must live in the state of Florida while attending VPK and be 4 years of age on September 1 of the school year. (So for the upcoming 2020/2021 VPK year, a child must be 4 by September 1, 2020.) To register for VPK, parents contact the Early Learning Coalition in the county where their preferred VPK Provider is located. In Escambia County, parents apply through the Early Learning Coalition of Escambia County and can apply online at Once the VPK Application has been approved by the Early Learning Coalition, parents will receive an email and the child’s printable VPK Eligibility Certificate. That certificate can be taken to the VPK Program Provider of choice. If a family needs childcare beyond the regular VPK school day, an ELC child can enroll in Wrap-Around VPK Care which provides care from the end of the VPK instruction time until 6 PM.

As a Christian preschool, the Ministry Village ELC places an essential emphasis on a love for teaching the Bible and instilling Godly principles of character into the children. Starting at an early age, children can learn to be kind to one another, not just because it’s a rule, but because Jesus loves us and wants us to love others. The teachers weave Bible lessons into their interactions with the kids throughout the day, teaching them to pray for others, ask for God’s blessing over their food at meals and snack times, and find ways to share and be helpful around the classroom.

The Ministry Village ELC utilizes the Creative Curriculum®, and each of their learning objectives aligns with Florida’s early learning educational standards for early childcare and education. VPK kids actively participate in early education STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities, as well as daily Bible stories, art, structured and free-play time. The weekly lesson plans are purposefully and intentionally planned to meet the needs of each child and families are provided with extension activities and ideas to use at home to support the learning and concepts their child engages in at the ELC.

Ministry Village ELC parents are thrilled with the care their children receive each day. Jessica, a Ministry Village ELC parent, said, “I am a new mom and was frantic when trying to find an opening for a daycare nearby. The teachers are so compassionate and understanding. I know they take such great care of the kiddos. Each morning when we get our son ready, he gets anxious to get going. He knows where he’s going and smiles the moment we pull up. They help with milestones and it has been very evident in my son’s progress. It really does take a village. Prospective families should know that they’re putting their children in great hands should they enroll at the ELC.”
