This Week We’re Shooting for Grace at the Ministry Village Clay Shoot!

In charis house, General, Ministry Village

This weekend marks the 5th annual Ministry Village Clay Shoot – our fundraiser for the Charis House and the programs of Ministry Village at Olive – and it’s not too late for you to participate!

This year’s fundraiser will be a 2-day event and feature a special guest – multi-time professional tour, world and national champion shooter Gebben Miles! On Friday, October 8 at 5:30 PM, Gebben and his girlfriend Karen Shedd – also one of the top professional shooters in the world – will hold a shooting demonstration, showing targets as they encounter them on the professional event level. They will talk through how they approach each shot, and give attendees basic tips on stance, posture, and ways to (hopefully) break more targets in Saturday’s tournament. They will also show off their pro-skills as they demo some more challenging shots. Friday night’s catered catfish dinner from Chef Bob and Olive Catering will follow the shooting demonstration. Gebben will also share his testimony and discuss how he uses the professional shooting world as his mission field for bringing people to the Lord.

Tickets for Friday night’s event at the Santa Rosa Shooting Center are just $10 and include dinner. Purchase your tickets online at

On Saturday, October 9, the tournament kicks off at Santa Rosa Shooting Center with registration at 7:30 AM and the safety meeting at 8:30 AM. Shooting will begin at 9:00 AM. Gebben and Karen will be on hand to provide coaching tips to shooters, as well as to shoot mulligans for donations to Ministry Village (for those times when your score needs a little extra grace). Lunch will follow the Saturday shoot, and awards, door prizes, auction items and raffle prizes will be announced. Cash prizes will be awarded to the First Place Team ($500) and Second Place Team ($200), and special prizes and recognition will be awarded to the Highest Individual Score, Lowest Individual Score, and Best Junior Shooter.

Registration is still open for teams of 4 or individual shooters, but space is limited and filling quickly! Register online at, or call Scott at 850-475-1112 with questions.

Dr. Stephen Newsome, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Ministry Village at Olive, is looking forward to this year’s event because of its purpose. “The annual Clay Shoot provides a fun way for us to share the work of Ministry Village with our community, and provide an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. The work done at the Charis House is life-changing and life-saving. But it takes resources to support that work. It costs about $1,600 each month to provide housing, shelter, and program support for just one woman. Each woman commits to a minimum of 1 year in the program, so the costs add up quickly. This fundraiser is a wonderful way to support Ministry Village.”

Join us – we are “Shooting for Grace” to raise funds for Ministry Village and the Charis House!
