Shop…in the Name of Love at Our New Bargain Center Location!

Ministry Village at Olive is excited to announce that the Ministry Village Bargain Center is relocating and will soon reopen at 92 E. Nine Mile Road in Pensacola. The Grand Reopening is scheduled for Monday, February 3rd at 9 AM.

The Bargain Center opened in June 2013 in its original location on North Davis Highway near Fairfield Drive. The new location on 9 Mile Road not only provides access to the booming population growth in that area – both for ease of donation drop-offs and accessibility of shoppers – but it also provides a better store layout for the merchandise as well as the addition of The Market. The Market at Ministry Village opened in December 2019, providing vendor booth space and allowing the Bargain Center to expand into a unique, boutique-style shopping experience. Vendors at The Market offer a variety of local, handmade, unique and custom items ranging from local honey and jewelry to handmade wreaths and crosses.

“We are very excited to be in the 9 Mile Road area,” says Julie Paden, Manager of the Ministry Village Bargain Center. “This building was recently renovated so it truly helps us provide the boutique experience we wanted to be able to offer to our customers.” Because of the new building’s layout, merchandise can be arranged in one large room, with a dressing area, books and media materials in an adjacent space. Being closer to Olive’s main church campus and more centrally-located is also a plus since most of the volunteers and donors are Olive church members. Julie is looking for opportunities to cater to the needs of people in the northern part of the county as well as ways to reach more people throughout the whole community – both donors and shoppers. Even with the busyness of 9 Mile Road traffic, Julie and her employees say that getting into and out of the new Bargain Center parking lot has not been an issue. “There is a light nearby that stops traffic frequently, and the median is open directly across from the store; so no matter which direction we are coming from or going to, it has been easy to get in and out of the store at all times of the day.”

While the Bargain Center offers discount shopping and thrifty finds to bargain-loving shoppers, its primary mission is to provide funding for the various programs of Ministry Village at Olivethe Tender Hearts Caring Hands food pantry and benevolence program; Most Excellent Way’s addiction support groups; and the Charis House, a ladies’ faith-based residential recovery program for women suffering from addiction.

In next week’s blog, we’ll learn more about the new location, what shoppers can expect from the store, and Julie’s vision for the future of the Bargain Center.
